Yes. I am bummed. I've enjoyed Firewire (aka IEEE 1394) for years now and it seems Apple is really pushing consumers toward USB2. To not include a Firwire cable was one thing. Okay, if I can afford an iPod, then I can afford a freekin' cable. But now with the release of the nano, Firewire is not even supported for song syncing. Even though it uses the same dock connector as previous iPods that can use either Firewire OR USB2, the nano can only use a Firewire cable for charging. WTF? While USB2 may hold an ever so slight advantage in transfer speed (480Mbps for USB2 and 400Mbps for Firewire... ooh big deal), Firewire is iosynchronous. In other words, all devices on the Firewire bus have the full bandwidth, while on the USB2 bus, all the devices share the bandwidth. My other problem with this, USB2 implementation on the Mac has always SUCKED when compared to a PeeCee. There's an article on BareFeats.com that supports this. Sure it's an older article, but you get the gist. The other issue is that older Macs (like mine - G4-533 MHz Dual Digital Audio) do not have USB 2.0, only USB 1.0, which yes... is backwards compatible, but only up to 12Mbps. Even my wife's Mac (G4-1.25 GHz Dual MDD) has USB 1.1. I know we can get a USB2 cards for our Macs. That's not really the point. I DON'T FUCKING LIKE USB!!!! Why not go with Firewire 800? USB can't even hold a candle to Firewire 800.

Apple did not explicitly state a reason for excluding FireWire on the Nano. Presumably, the company wanted to save the expense of supporting both USB and FireWire, as well as any power and space cost to including both connections.

Steve Jobs really should have checked with me on this first. [-(

I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family, they say they're looting; you see a white family, it says they're looking for food.

So somehow, that is President Bush's fault? Hell Bush gets it worse than anybody else in the media. Give me a break.

they've given them permission to go down and shoot us.

Soooo the the people down in New Orleans can shoot at the rescue workers and that's okay, but it's not okay for the National Guard to shoot back?

George Bush doesn't care about black people

Awe and there it is. Another celebrity out to make a political statement on somebody else's time and dime. I know. I'm spewin' my own shit here, but you see, here's the difference. It's my blog. I paid for the computer from where I post. I paid for the web server from where it is hosted. I don't have to rip off the networks for their air time. I don't have to sneak around cue cards and slip past a network censor in order to say something that wasn't "in the script". You wanna talk your own shit? Pay for your own medium. Think you can do a better job runnin' the fuckin' country? Great! Run for office and put your fuckin' money where your pampered celebrity, fat fuckin' mouth is. I'm sure you have more fans than Mr Bush or any of the other candidates. It should be pretty much a cakewalk.

You know... New Orleans was founded in 1718. I'm sorry that in 287 years, leader after leader, elected official after elected official, could not get that city to a point where its citizens were safe from a natural disaster that nearly every-fuckin-body knew would happen some day. I'm sorry there weren't double levees. I'm sorry there weren't redundant pumps. I'm sorry that after 287 years, knowing that this might happen, that there were no contingency plans for this sort of crisis. I'm sorry that Hurricane Katrina actually devastated other parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, Florida, Georga, Kentucky, and even Ohio. I'm sorry that Federal disaster declarations blanketed 90,000 square miles of the United States, so that the full attention of the rescue workers could not be focussed squarely on New Orleans. I'm sorry that when help did come, they were welcomed with gunfire. I'm sorry that other "lesser storms" were handled much better than the the worst natural distaster in recent US history. And I'm sorry that things haven't quite worked out to your personal satisfaction. Fucking moron. l-)

But it would seem the press does. Katrina just goes in there and kicks everybody's ass. Black, White, Brown, Yellow, Male, Female, Young, Old, Rich, Poor, Mentally/Physically Disadvantaged, Able Bodied, Pretty, Fugly, Gay, Straight, Bi, What-the-fuck ever. If you were there, Katrina kicked your ass.

So why does the press pick favorites like this?

According to Yahoo, black people "loot" -- white people "find."

You know... I'm probably the last person to EVER preach Political Correctness. In fact, I'm probably going to wind up offending somebody out there. Let me take this opportunity to NOT apologize in advance. Thin skinned, sensitive, whiney pansies need to stay the hell off the Internet.

Having said that, I have to say that this Media Racism bullshit is pretty fucked up right here. While I'm on the subject, I must also admit, had I not seen this on the Internet first, I might have never even paid any attention. Like I said, normally I could give a shit about being PC, but damn... Yahoo? AP? I'm starting to see why some blacks get pissed off about this stuff.

dustin3000, nice catch man.

SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- California Attorney General Bill Lockyer has filed a lawsuit to force top makers of potato chips and french fries to warn consumers about a potential cancer-causing chemical found in the popular snacks.

In a complaint filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Lockyer sought an injunction to stop restaurant chains such as McDonald's Corp. and Wendy's International Inc. from selling french fries without some form of warning.

Also named were producers of potato chips and other packaged potato products like PepsiCo's Frito-Lay Inc. and Procter & Gamble Co., makers of Pringles chips. blah blah blah-fucking-blah...

"I know from personal experience that, while these snacks may not be a necessary part of a healthy diet, they sure taste good," Lockyer said in a statement. "But I, and all consumers, should have the information we need to make informed decisions about the food we eat."

God damn. Have you ever heard such a fucktard for an Attorney General? Is this really... I mean really... honestly... the BEST HE CAN FUCKING COME UP WITH?? Chips and french frys? Frys? We should have the information we need huh? Okay. Here's a little clue Mr Fucktard. As the name of the food would imply (come on follow me here, I know you can do this), IT'S FUCKING FRIED!!!!! Oh and here's some more information... no charge. If you are all really that god damn concerned with your health, THEN LAY THE FUCK OFF THE CHIPS AND FRIES!! Why does California insist on legislating EVERY-fucking-THING?? WHY?? It's like suing God, because ...oh well you know the sun is kinda bright, and if you look at it all day, you might go blind. I think there oughta be some kinda label on that big bright thing up there. You know. So we can have all the information. How about that Pacific Ocean? That thing gets kinda deep doesn't it? I don't recall ever seeing any sort of label on it. Clearly we should legislate this too. Mr Fucktard, there's really only one label we need to legislate. It's a label for your fucking forehead that says "I'm a fucktard. Please talk slower." Fucking moron.

Cops: Florida man threw son's dog from fifth-floor balcony

What a prick!

AUGUST 2--Meet Josper Sanon. The Florida man, 49, was arrested yesterday and charged with flinging his teenage son's dog off a fifth-floor balcony after the two-month-old puppy soiled the family's Miramar apartment. The dog, a black Labrador, died after being tossed more than 25 feet through the air from the 50-foot high balcony, according to the below Miramar Police Department report. Charged with felony animal abuse, Sanon was released yesterday from the Broward County jail after posting bail. If convicted of the dog killing, Sanon--pictured at right in a police booking photo--faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
